Police in North Wales are to trial roadside drug testing equipment to screen drivers for six commonly used illegal substances, including Ecstasy, cocaine and cannabis. The Government is planning to make it an offence to drive with any illegal substances in the bloodstream. Under existing law, driving under the influence of illegal substances has been difficult for police officers to prove unless they ask motorists to demonstrate their co-ordination skills.
