| Title |
Barry George wants court to free him from monitoring |
| Details |
An unprecedented legal challenge is being made by Barry George, acquitted of killing Jill Dando in a 2008 retrial, to stop the authorities monitoring his movements under a multi-agency public protection arrangement (Mappa), which he argues is a breach of his human rights. Mr George is on the lowest level of Mappa monitoring under which he must inform his local authority and the police of his movements. The Metropolitan police is contesting the challenge, which will be heard in full in mid-December 2009 after a preliminary hearing on December 1, 2009. |
